Work experience

I have experience working in the public and private sector as well as academic space. I lecture at the University of Pretoria and present modules in severe disability AAC intervention, research methodology, and early childhood intervention to Master’s students. My research focus is mainly with youth with severe communication disabilities. my publications have been presented both locally and internationally. In addition, I have experience in working in collaborative projects with other African, American, European and Australian institutions. Furthermore, I have experience in community-based projects and training of professionals and caregivers in severe disability.

Services provided

I specialize in the field of severe disability and therefore provide intervention to clients with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and Autism. My expertise is in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) which entails offering alternative means to communication when verbal communication skills is impaired. I believe in a Family-Centered approach with intervention driven and guided by parents. Services I provide include treatment of the following:

I deliver services in most South African languages i.e. Sotho, Nguni as well as English. However, please note I am able to guide parents to interact with the child should I not be able to speak your language.
